Patchogue Indivisible Against Hate is now Patchogue Is Indivisible - Our 1st General Meeting a BIG S

Our name has changed as some didn't think the word "Hate" being in our name was a good thing, but also it was changed for logistical reasons as it was too long.

Our first general meeting was inspiring as we had 25 members and 15 new members in attendance. We got to know each other a little bit and came together to form our group.

We discussed our Mission: "To share knowledge of our political process and performance of our elected officials so that we can inspire our community to contribute to their, and their family’s future, by persuading our Representatives to represent US."

Our Principles: "

1. The current administration and elected officials will take America backwards and MUST BE STOPPED! Any elected officials that don’t represent us properly MUST BE STOPPED!

2) To work together to achieve this goal we must model the values of inclusion, tolerance, and fairness, and

3) Whenever one of our representatives acts, whether sponsoring, or co-sponsoring a bill, makes a speech, votes on legislation, etc., that doesn’t consider our concerns, it must be told, loudly, and to ALL constituents to bring awareness.;

Our Goals:

  • The ultimate goal is to apply pressure to our MoC to stop racism, hate, inequality, authoritarianism, corruption, and all that is bad within our political world today.

  • Primary and/or unseat Members of Congress (Moc) and Senators as well as local politicians that are supporting the racist, authoritarian, and corrupt agenda, and;

Our Values:

  • Inclusion

  • Tolerance

  • Fairness

We discussed the forming of seven teams we will have within our group to break down all the tasks we will need to complete to truly resist the racist, authoritarian, and corrupt agenda of Trump, and the hateful, immoral, greedy agenda of the current Republicans in Congress.

The seven teams we will staff are:

  1. Tracking, Researching; Legislation - Rapid Response Team

  2. Tracking; Representatives, Schedules, Events, Availabilities

  3. Membership/Recruitment

  4. Group Coordination

  5. Social Media, Technology, Media and Branding

  6. Electoral Research and Outreach

  7. Event Organizing and Collaboration

Right now members are deciding which teams they will be committed to working on. Also I am trying to find "Co-Founders" for the group. They will be my "Partners" in growing and managing the group as it is a big job, with lots of work to do. It will all b e well worth it as we start to address local, school board elections, and then on to town, county, and state elections. We will be using the Indivisible Team (@IndivisibleTeam) defensive strategy that was so successful for the Tea Party. We will not lose sight of our positive goals but realize that with the Republicans having control over all three branches of government and 32 states through either their Governor and/or State Legislatures, we must use the strategy that was so successful to take back our government, as it is a fact, that we will NOT be setting the agenda for the next 2-4 years. We have plenty to do and by the showing of the members who attended, and those who let me know they couldn't make the meeting but were ready to go to work, we will be celebrating being part of history in 2018.

Next Friday we will be at Rep. Lee Zeldin's Mobile Office Hours, 10:00 AM, March 3, 2017, at the Hagerman Fire Dept. I am asking members who will be attending to bring signs related to either the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (aka the ACA, Please do NOT use "Obamacare" on signs as it has too many negative connotations) or the fact that he is unwilling to hold a Town Hall meeting. When we meet or protest the representatives don't react to a bunch of different issues being on signs, or chanted. Whenever we meet or protest we must focus on a single issue, two, at the most. This is part of how to get Lee Zeldin's attention.

As soon as the members have chosen their teams we will be holding team meetings, hopefully within the next week. Each team will decide on a day and time and the Group Coordination team will meet with them at a Panera Bread, or other convenient location.

Today we posted a Call To Action to email our NYS Attorney General Eric Schneider urging him to bring a lawsuit against Trump for his conflicts of interest. If you didn't see it on our Facebook Group Page, or our group's Facebook Page, here is the email address to send an email to the Attorney General: Email: nyag.consumerbureau@ag.ny.gov Be sure and put your name, address and number in the email. Thank you!!!

Until next time, in solidarity.
